A full hookup site provides three connections at your campsite:

This is the one that confuses most new RVers. Here's the simple version:

30-amp service delivers 3,600 watts of power. It's enough to run one air conditioner, your refrigerator, lights, and most appliances — but not everything at once. Most smaller RVs, travel trailers, and older motorhomes are wired for 30-amp.

50-amp service delivers up to 12,000 watts across two legs of power. It can run two air conditioners simultaneously, a washer/dryer, microwave, and everything else without tripping a breaker. Larger Class A motorhomes, fifth wheels, and newer luxury coaches typically require 50-amp.

• Disconnect and drain your hose if temperatures drop below freezing

The sewer connection lets you drain your black and gray tanks directly into the campground's sewer system. No more driving to a dump station, no more monitoring tank levels every day.

Important sewer etiquette:

• Never leave your black tank valve open — always let it fill before dumping to create enough flow to clear the line
• Gray tank can be left open or dumped every few days
• Use a quality sewer hose with a secure connection to avoid leaks
